The Pledge for Healthier Students

Event Date: 10/5/11

School: Linwood Elementary School, Visalia Unified School District, Tulare County-Central Valley.

Activity Description: Linwood Elementary, Home of the Eagles, took the Fuel Up to Play 60 pledge at their annual Walk to School Day on October 5, 2011. Over 200 students stopped by the Fuel Up to Play 60 booth and signed the pledge board! The booth and pledge board were provided by Dairy Council of California’s Territory Manger, Angie Tazio R.D., who also provided information about the Fuel Up to Play 60 program and the importance of eating a healthy well-balanced breakfast– “Good nutrition begins with breakfast. Eating a healthy breakfast provides the first fuel of the day for our brain and body; giving us energy we need to start the day!”. The students were not the only ones involved in the event. The school’s Parent Teacher Association was a great partner and provided both their support of the event and healthy snacks such as milk, yogurt, string cheese, granola bars and bottled water.  Go to the Fuel Up to Play 60 website to see how you can tie in Fuel Up to Play 60 at your next school event!
